The Paleo diet ‘theory’ was basically the first diet of mankind.  The consumption of food from the earth before it was artificially preserved, pumped full of fillers, hormones, colors..  The paleo diet probably seems extreme to the modern day individual who is used to grabbing on the go and not thinking about what is in that frozen meal.

Apparently Paleo was the diet of cavemen which consisted of fruits, veggies, berries, nuts, seeds, and meats.  Whatever was accessible nourishment was key to the natural survivalist.




Today the Paleo diet is not prevalent in the typical society, but many people are trying it out by eliminating cereals, pastas, rice, amidst other preserved and human manipulated foods and replacing them with veggies, berries, nuts, seeds, and meats..

I do believe there is no perfect diet and if we were able to combine a couple of the most recommended diets together and tweak a few flaws then maybe we might have the perfect balanced diet.  The Paleo diet has come under some serious scrutiny over the last couple years by several news media affiliates.  U.S. News and World Report  placed it last in the Annual Best Diet’s Rankings back in 2013.  It was defined as too confusing, certain food groups are absent, and the diet is too high in saturated fat.  Despite the negative views by a handful of health experts, it has not stopped a large population of people from trying the Paleo diet.  In fact many people who stuck with the Paleo diet successfully lost weight and felt better.  Well I’m sure it’s not the highly saturated fats that are causing weight loss; however studies show that the right combination of fats, proteins, and enzymes help to regulate the digestive system and balance or even raise the metabolism rate.  Find out more info about this in the article

Plus cutting out preserved foods with high levels of useless carbs and sugar is a definite way to lose weight ~then the Paleo diet is right on!  Not to mention many chronic illness’s and diseases that would benefit from cutting empty carbs and sugar.  Doctors advise diets that promote less sugar, carbs and preservatives for diabetes and obesity. Now 2016 and the world is bombarded with so many different diet plans and routine ideas (do this, but don’t do this).  It’s overwhelming and kind of ridiculous!  Whether your intention is losing weight or gaining muscle the overall conclusion is that balance is your best ally.  If your diet has resorted to a stressful isolated figment, it’s time to get real.  Eating a healthy breakfast, lunch, and dinner does not mean I ate a healthy dinner last night, so I can eat this frosted donut this morning.  You’ll keep yourself going in circles. . .

The only way to be healthy is to be honest. 

 




The Paleo Diet is actually super realistic (whether it is a myth or fact).  The Paleo diet’s goal is a healthy naturalistic point of view.  I think ~ We are the ones who have confused “a healthy diet” with excessive junk food and HIGHLY preserved foods.

 

My final thought:

I don’t believe in isolating ourselves from any food, I believe moderation is the key; however eating more fruits and veggies and healthy lean meat (like fish), plus the addition of some nuts and seeds could not hurt.  Some studies have proven that eating healthy food and less junk food can support the effort to weight loss and muscle gain.
